The Cross of Being Pro-Life

Holy Week gives us a reminder of how our lord bore the heavy cross as he journeyed to Mt.

Calvary. It reminds us of the main reason we were preparing for six weeks. We added more

spiritual practices as we took away something as a sacrifice. One is taking part in 40 Days for

Life campaign. He took on every sin of the world through his passion, death, and resurrection.

For pro-lifers, we share that cross with Jesus. Jesus remembered every mom who chose

abortion out of fear or coercion.

He remembers the pro-lifers who would endure torment,

jeers, and every persecution in his name for their stand against abortion.

He remembers those who would work in diabolical industry that has murdered more than 63

million children for the last 50 years.

The cross has been heavy for us. However, we are willing to accept it because we want to be a

faithful follower of Jesus.

As we prepare for the Easter Triduum, let us take this time to reflect on the works we do to not

behave like Pilate when innocent blood is shed. Rather, we are willing to save the life of the

innocent. Likewise, we choose Christ for our life journey as opposed to what the world wants us

to do. We also must ask Jesus to remember us just as he remembers Dismas when he went to

his kingdom and promised him a place with him in paradise.

Pro-lifers, the mother may be scared about the decision. Like Jesus, she seeks to see a friendly

face before entering the abortion facility. Will it be you?

Take up the cross. Follow Jesus. Be not afraid of what will come on this journey.
