Babies in the Workplace
Women can have their babies and their career. We’ve heard that enough… but there’s a huge caviat to that statement that needs to be addressed.
This ONLY WORKS when we have a society that welcomes and accommodates mothers. And it only can be done in a way that’s HEALTHY for society when workplaces and employees recognize that family and the raising of children comes BEFORE career priorities.
This past week I was on a staff retreat, and as always, I brought my little girl with. As you would expect, it was a week full of meetings and reports, goals and KPIs for this year. Where was my little girl, you might ask? Right there with me.
And I wouldn’t change it for the world. I thought dozens of times throughout this week..
“What if every business worked like this… worked hard to create the space for mothers and their little ones to feel welcome?
Then maybe we wouldn’t see as many agonizing messages on Facebook and Tik Tok, mothers grieving their lost time with their child, crying on their way to work, but not being able to stop working because they believe they have to to support their families.”
So yes, the pro-life movement needs to continue to say that women CAN do it all…
… but we also need to prioritize building a whole culture of life, building out new ideas and innovations for children to be accepted not only at play places and restaurants… but in the working world as well.
